Cricket

We went to the Paint Auction.  The stands were full and we had to sit in the stair way.  Someone tapped on Marks back.  It was his Uncle Bob.  He said horses were going real cheap and he had a bid number, which we did not.

Several horses went through the Auction barn for $300.00 to $400.00 which we could not afford.  Then this scrawny little guy with soft eyes came into the ring.  We looked at Uncle Bob and knew that was the horse for us.  $210.00 later we had us a horse.  We did not have a place to put him or a trailer to move him, but we had a horse!!

He must have been kicked when they put 80 head of pasture bred colts into the Semi because he creaked when he walked, hence the name Cricket.

Uncle Bob let us use his trailer and put him in his pasture for a couple of weeks.  Cricket and I played together and healed together.

The problem was that I loved him and hugged him but he did not respect me.  He bucked me off and ran over me if I asked too much of him.  Mark said that he would get rid of him if he hurt me again.  I looked for Training methods and found Pat Parelli.  It took me 5 years to get through Level 3 but what a difference it made in our relationship.  We now dance together on the ground and on his back!

I have ridden with Ray Hunt, Buck Branamon, Jack Brainard, and manuel Trigo.  I have learned so much from all of these top horsemen and put it together with my Belly dancing.  I now have my own style of Teaching and Riding.

I owe it all to Cricket!!
